OBITUARY:Alan Richard Cunningham, aged 57 of Branch, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Mercy General Health Partners in Muskegon. Alan was born on December 19, 1952 in Mt. Clemens to Lawrence and Lorraine (Ripper) Cunningham, and graduated from East Detroit High School with the class of 1970. Alan always had a love for music and marched in several Drum and Bugle Corps playing both the drums and Mellophone. The past several years he often made weekly treks to Racine, Wisconsin where he was a member of the Kiltie’s Drum and Bugle Corps. On June 13, 1992, Alan married Judy Conklin (Parzych) in Branch and they have celebrated 18 years together. Alan has worked for the Great Lakes Castings in Ludington in Quality Control for over 15 years, and loved hockey. He enjoyed coaching kids whenever he was able, and when he was not marching, he could usually be found riding his motorcycle and spending time with Judy and their beloved Shelte “Teddy.” Along with Judy, Alan will be greatly missed by their children Robert Conklin and his friend Sally Parker of West Olive, and Annette (Ray) Harrington of Holland; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; his stepfather Papa Joe Stalzer of Fountain; his brothers Ron Cunningham of Fountain, Tim Cunningham of Port Austin, and Larry Cunningham of Ludington. A Memorial Service will be held for Alan at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 24 at the Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville with Rev. Mike Cilibraise of St. Mary’s Catholic Church officiating. Friends may meet with Alan’s family for a time of visitation on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home. Those who wish to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider the American Liver Foundation.
