Anthony T. Swider

October 17, 1940 - June 11, 2012

ANTHONY'S OBITUARY:Anthony (Tony) T. Swider, Jr., 71, of Scottville, passed away at home with his children by his side on June 11, 2012. Tony was born in Chicago, IL in 1940, son of the late Anthony and Corrine Swider, Sr., the middle child of three siblings. Tony married Lucy Sulak of Ludington In October of 1959. Lucy passed away on December 19, 2009, just two months after celebrating their 50-year anniversary. Tony and Lucy had three children, Diane Swider (Jack Shoup), Ted Swider (Bobbie Henson-Greene) and Dawn Swider , and all survive him.Tony worked for many years at various places as a paint and auto body technician. He retired in 2000 from Harbison-Walker Refractories and spent his remaining years enjoying his home on Crystal Lake with his family, and his cat Stinky (that he stole from the neighbor).Tony had a soft spot in his heart for animals. He thoroughly enjoyed cooking and liked to make people feel better with food; so if he ever brought you doughnuts, or a pot of spaghetti, you knew he was thinking about you.Tony is survived by his children Diane, Ted and Dawn; sisters Darlene (Roger) Sanders, and Pam (RJ) Ruiz; grandchildren Rachelle (Mike) VanDyke, Ashlee (Kevin) Lange, Toni (Nic Ropotos) Swider, Stephanie Brigham; and great grandchildren Steven, Bentley & Brooke Brigham and Olivia VanDyke. The family would like to thank Harbor Hospice and his caregiver, Judy, for the exceptional care he received. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of his life will take place at a later date. In memory of Tony and his love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to Lakeshore Animal Friends.
