Betty Anna Englebrecht

Betty Anna Englebrecht, aged 96 of Custer, formerly of Riverton Township, died Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Oakview Medical Care Facility in Ludington. Betty was born on March 14, 1911 in Hill Rose, Colorado to Robert and Metta (Anderson) Nelson, and earned a teaching certificate from County Normal School. She taught school in the Riverton area. On June 18, 1933, she married Henry Englebrecht in Oceana County, and he preceded her in death on July 12, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Virginia Augustine on April 16, 2003, her brothers Robert and Carl Nelson, and her sister Violet Morrell. Betty was an avid reader and longtime member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ludington. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors, and the East Riverton Ladies Club. She was very proud of donating many gallons of blood over the years thru the American Red Cross. Betty will be greatly missed by her son-in-law Don Augustine of Walhalla, her grandchildren Lori Augustine, and Sarah Andersen both of Custer, and DeLynn (Michael) Forman of Grass Lake; her great-grandchildren Jessica Shirey, Zachary, and Ryan Forman; her sister Frances Millgard of Doraville, Georgia, and her brother James Nelson of Hazasu City, Arizona. A memorial service will be held for Betty at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 17 at the Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville, with Pastor Bill Huether of Bethany Lutheran Church officiating. Burial has taken place at Center Riverton Cemetery.
