Clarence Manley, 69 of Scottville, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016 in Grand Rapids, MI. He is now reconnected with his beloved wife Karen in heaven. Clarence was born August 27, 1946 to Harrison and Opal Manley in Ludington, Michigan. Clarence graduated Ludington High School in 1965, soon after graduating he served in the Marines from 1966 to 1967. His military services sent him to Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam War. Once the Marines made a man out of Clarence he soon gained the romantic interest of Karen Bittel. They would be married in Ludington on January 18, 1969. Clarence dedicated over 30 years of his life working for Great Lakes Casting Corporation where he made many lifelong friends. He loved to care for his hobby farm tending to his many pygmy goats, a donkey and a pony. He was famous for chauffeuring his granddaughters around town to their various locations. Clarence was also a collector of many tools, newspapers and Auto Traders. He loved visiting old friends at the Scottville Wesco where he'd buy his daily turtle doughnut, lottery ticket and newspaper. Clarence had a great relationship with food. He was always ready for a big potluck, with his famous potato salad in hand. Or often times you could find him on his lawn mower where he took great passion in maintaining his lawn. Clarence will be missed by all that had the good fortune to know him and experience a wit that earned him the nickname Clancy the Clown. Survivors include his daughter Mary Lou Linenfelser and her significant other Duane Miller of Scottville; Her children; Megan, Allison, Natalie, and Gretchen Linenfelser. His daughter Christy Bowcamp and her husband Tim of Buckley; their 4 legged children; Tessa, Sasha, Cara and Carmen; son Jeffery Manley and his wife Alexis; their children Lennon, Liam, Silas, River, Juno, Pilot and Thor Manley; his sister Tressa White of Florida and sister-in-law Dorthy Manley of Ludington. He was preceded in death by his parents Harrison and Opal; his Brother Bill Manley; his sister Isabelle Sheppleman, grandparents; and his beloved wife Karen. A memorial services for Clarence will be held 11:00am on Friday, March 11at Wyman Funeral Chapel in Scottville. A viewing will take place on Thursday, March 10 from 6:00 to 8:00pm and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Those who wish to make a memorial contribution are asked to make them to the family.
