Duelet N. Bobian

Duelet N. Bobian, aged 95 of Hamlin Township died on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Duelet was born on June 21, 1919 in Ludington, the son of Duelet and Edith (Marcellus) Bobian, and graduated from Ludington High School with the class of 1940. He attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering while working as a Purser on the Spartan and Badger Car Ferries. While working for the Pere Marquette and later Chesapeake & Ohio Railroads, he served as a Switchman and Conductor for over 38 years, retiring in 1979. On June 5, 1954 he married the love of his life Roselyn Marie Sladick, and they celebrated 36 years together before she preceded him in death in 1990. Duelet enjoyed his farm in Hamlin with a small herd of cattle, ice fishing on Hamlin Lake, swimming at the State Park, mushroom hunting, gardening, and traveling up north to Traverse City, Leland, Northport, Whitefish Bay, Copper Harbor, Grand Marias, and South Manitou Island. A longtime member of the Elks Club in Ludington, Duelet also enjoyed getting together with his retired friends and playing a good game of cards or bingo. Along with his wife Rosalyn, Duelet was also preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law Lawrence Dewyer, his grandson Ron Smith, and his brother Gerald Bobian. He will be greatly missed by his daughters Janet (James) Rotta and Christie A. Dewyer all of Ludington, his grandchildren Stanley (Dawn) Masiwchuk of Custer, Patrick Masiwchuk of Ludington, Barbie Jo (Dan) Young of Jenison, and Rachel Smith of Ludington, his great-grandchildren Cyrus and Lucas Masiwchuk, Brett Swain, and Benjamin Masiwchuk, his brother Richard (Sharon) Bobian of Muskegon, and his sister-in-law Jackie Bobian of San Diego, CA. Memorial graveside services will be held for Duelet at North Victory Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Hamlin Township Hall at a later date. Dad, you were a wonderful Father! YOUR LOVING FAMILY
