John W. Bayless

April 25, 1935 - March 16, 2022

John William Bayless aged 86 of Cuba, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at the home of his daughter Michelle in Ludington, Michigan. John was born on April 25, 1935 in Oak Hill, Missouri, the son of Sam C. and Martha Ellen (Ferris) Bayless. He graduated from Springfield High School with the class of 1953 and continued his education at the University of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, earning his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering Degree in 1957. John worked many years in various construction efforts with Fruin Colnon Corp, J.S. Alberici, Morrison Knudsen Corp, and Barton Malow Co. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cuba where he served as an Elder for the congregation. John was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and served as a District Deputy Grand Master. John was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Diana Bishop, and his brothers Sam R. and Ralph E. Bayless. He will be greatly missed by his daughters Melody Sue Bayless and Michelle Kay (Dennis) Malone; his sons Ralph J. “Joe” and John J. (Phuong) Bayless; his grandchildren Sam and Josie Bayless; his sister Donna Jacques; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held for John at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 21 at First Presbyterian Church in Cuba. Those who wish to remember John with a memorial donation are asked to please consider either the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, both of which he was very passionate about supporting.
