June 18, 1923 - October 4, 2011

LEATRICE'S OBITUARY:Mrs. Leatrice J. Stevens, age 88 formerly of Scottville, passed away at Tendercare of Ludington on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. Leatrice was born to Henry and Cecil Mae Matevjovitz on June 18, 1923 in Custer. She grew up in Custer with her sister Linda and attended the local rural schools, and graduated from Scottville High School. On July 1, 1944 she was wed to Albert Pratt. They lived in Muskegon for a few years following their marriage and then returned to Scottville where they raised their family of three boys, Gar, Ron and Warren. Leatrice loved being a wife and mother and caring for her home and family and taking an active role in the Scottville United Methodist Church women’s group. She and Al spent 42 years together until his death on September 28, 1986. Leatrice was a great cook and enjoyed the time she spent preparing meals for her family. She loved to polka dance and had a sense for adventure, enjoying traveling and seeing many different places. On November 23, 1996 she married John “Ray” Stevens and they spent over a decade enjoying each other’s company until his death on March 7, 2008.Leatrice will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family: sons Gar (Gayla) of Lakeview and their families, Ron (Penny) of Kingman, AZ and Warren (Carla) of Bonney Lake, WA; her grandchildren Ron (Amy) Pratt and their children Quintin, Reagan & Jaedyn; Nicole (Chad) Wocelka and their children Alexie, Mason, Aryanna, Dawsen, and Griffin, James (Kelsey) Tyner and their daughter Eylse, and Brandy Pratt; her sister Linda King of Sun City, AZ; the Derby families of Daryl, Duwayne & Doug all of Muskegon, as well as her nieces and nephews.A memorial service to celebrate and remember the life of Leatrice Pratt Stevens will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 21 at the Scottville United Methodist Church with Rev. Merritt Bongard officiating.
