Michele Marie Massoglia

April 19, 1943 - June 6, 2022

Michele Marie Massoglia aged 79 proceeded to her heavenly home on June 6, 2022. Michele was born April 19, 1943 to Joseph J. and Eva (Menzel) Massoglia in Monroe, MI. Due to Joe being a State Police Chief, they moved around frequently, which led to a lifelong love of travel and seeing new places. Her younger brother, Joseph was her first and best friend, and her love for him immense, even when he was yelling at her to turn down her music. Michele was an absolute powerhouse. She was known for listening to every opinion and suggestion, getting all sides of a story... and then doing exactly what she wanted to do in the first place. Michele was born with a servant's heart. One of her biggest passions was helping others, which manifested in the successful creation of several homes for the aged, as well as the mentally and physically disabled populations. Michele built her legacy alone from the ground up and could always be found in one of the homes with her sleeves rolled up, right in the middle of the action. Michele also took in several foster children over the years, as well as a myriad of stray cats, dogs, and one time for a short while, a cow. If anyone or anything needed a home, Michele provided it. While Michele's main passion was helping others, no one can deny her true passion of history, which led to her obsession of purchasing and restoring historical homes to their former glory, a passion that lives on in her daughter. Many of Michele's passion projects will continue to stand for years to come all around the lakeshore area due to her efforts and dedication to preservation with (as we are sure she would say) little to no help from ANY historical society, at any point ever. Michele will be greatly missed by her daughter Maria (Paul) Mallery of Allegan; her grandchildren Lexi and Jaxon Mallery; her brother Joseph (Jill) Massoglia of Westerville, OH; her nieces Jennifer (Robert) Heck, Julia (Brian) Carpenter, Anne (Scott) Ross, and Mary (Ryan) Hoobler; her nephew Daniel Massoglia along with 11 great nieces and nephews. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Michele will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Custer.
