Patricia Finley

May 18, 1934 - April 21, 2020

On April 21, 2020, Patricia L. Finley, age 85, passed away at her lake home in Branch. Patricia was born May 18, 1934, at Lake Lansing to her parents Elizabeth and George Weaver. She was the youngest of two siblings, Georgina and Dale. Shortly after her birth she moved to Jackson where she grew up. Patricia attended Jackson High School where she graduated in 1952. It was the same year she met Neil Finley who became her husband for 68 years. They have three sons together, Craig and his wife Ann who live in Branch; Brad and his wife Jan who live in Florence, Oregon; and Tod who lives with his wife Rockne near Marshall. There are two grandchildren, Joanna of Oregon and Erica who lives in Michigan. Pat was very proud of the fact that all three sons graduated from college. Patricia spent the early years of her marriage raising the three boys and being a wonderful wife to her husband. For 17 years she was the school secretary at Marshall Public Schools. As attendance officer and secretary at the high school, she developed a trusting relationship with the students who invited her to attend as an honored guest at their class reunion ceremonies a few years back. She loved them, she loved Marshall. Pat loved camping and traveling. She was proud of the fact she had visited all of the states and many foreign countries. Cruising was one of her favorite past times. She loved nature, the flowers and all the animals, but especially the birds. To many of her friends and relatives she was called the Bird Lady. Each year on her birthday would be celebrated by a trip up M-22 to see the trilliums all in bloom and then a ride backup up to mystery hill nearby followed by a stop at the A&W in Frankfort for one of her favorite foods, hot dogs. She always loved to be where the sun shined best and that was at her lake home in the Manistee National Forest until the days grew gray. Then at Avion Palms in the heart of Florida, she found the bright sun again but also the finest friends a person can ever have. How special they are. A celebration of her life will be held when the all-clear is given this summer. Pat is survived by many nieces and nephews and many cousins. Her brother and sister preceded her in death. Her husband of 68 years will miss her and miss her until they meet again.
