Roland "Tony" Spalding
July 18, 1941 - January 10, 2018
Roland “Tony” Spalding, 76, of Walhalla, passed away Jan. 10, 2018. Tony was born July 18, 1941 in Scottville, Michigan, the son of Robert and Ardith Spalding. Tony joined the Army and served in the Vietnam War. Upon returning from his years of service he married his wife, Julia (Elliott), in 1968, whom he was married to for 32 years. They resided in Ludington, where they raised their two children. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on anything that had a motor. Tony loved riding on his motorcycle, camping and spending time with friends and family. Those who knew him will be left with memories of his joking nature, his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever he could and, most of all, if you knew Tony you knew he could be stubborn as a mule; he never gave up and he never quit. He leaves us with memories that will forever make us smile and live forever in our hearts. Tony will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his children, Anthony (Kelli) Spalding, Kimberly (Sean) Klynstra; his grandchildren, Daniel (Jennie), Justin, Alexis, Faith and Hope; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Earl (Kate) Spalding; nieces, nephews, family and friends. A celebration of life gathering and luncheon will take place on Feb. 3, 2018 at the American Legion, 318 N. James St., Ludington, MI, 49431, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Lunch will be served at 2:30 p.m.
