OBITUARY:Everrett Norman “Bud” Durham and Sandra Lee (Porter) Durham of ScottvilleBud Durham, 79, passed on to Heaven Thursday evening, April 5th 2012, to prepare an eternal home for he and his wife Sandra Durham, 71, who joined her husband in Glory on Wednesday morning, April 11th, 2012. Bud and Sandy were joined in marriage on May 28th 1960 in Pentwater. They were blessed with three children: Bruce Durham (who preceded his parents in death on April 25th 2011), Beth (Randy) Behan of Scottville, and Becky (Darrell) Hamelund of North Chicago, IL, and Bruce’s wife Elaine of Scottville; five grandchildren: Rachel Durham, Sara (Ryan) Maccune, Nathan (Tracy) Hamelund, Joshua Hamelund, and Brooke Hamelund; and two great-grandchildren: Faith and Steven Maccune. In addition, Bud will be missed by his brother Loyd (Cathy) Durham of Ludington, and his sisters Patricia Fisk of Manistee, and Alma (Fred) Rhinebolt of Scottville. Sandy will be missed by her sisters Marie (Elwyn) Morton, and Shirley (LeMoyne) Morton all of Ludington, and Delores Tyler of Woodland. They were also preceded in death by Bud’s sister Iola Loss.Bud graduated from Scottville High School in 1952 and was employed as a mechanic at Readers in Scottville, and Laman Asphalt and Paving in Ludington. He then worked until his retirement in water well drilling with Lyle Reene and Sons of Custer. Sandra graduated from Ludington High School in 1959 and worked as a Nurse’s Aid at a local nursing home for short time. Caring for children was a very large piece of Sandy’s life as her career of choice was being a stay-at-home mom raising her three children who were the center of her universe. Probably the highest point in Sandy’s life was when she became a Grandma, and then more recently a Great-Grandma. Numerous other children of friends and relatives cared for by Sandy over the years were easily integrated into the family as she always had an immeasurable amount of love to share.Bud and Sandy were faithful members of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Ludington until compounding health problems eventually prevented them from the ability to take part in activities with their church family. Bud and Sandy did not live in a fancy, well-to-do mansion, nor did they drive luxury cars, or have the latest gadgets, brand-names, and gizmos. Material wealth or status was never a priority; the trials and pitfalls they endured together only made their faith in God, and love for each other ever stronger. Bud and Sandy Durham found true happiness in their lives within the love of family and friends; thus realizing a full, rich life that they started together….and finished together. Funeral services for Bud and Sandy will be held at noon on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Lighthouse Baptist Church with their pastor, Rev. Brian Blount officiating. The family will meet with friends at the church for visitation from 10 am until the time of the services. Interment will take place at South Victory Cemetery. Those who wish to make memorial contributions are asked to consider a donation to their family in care of Beth Behan.
