Stanley Robert Dombrouski

August 8, 1918 - January 28, 2013

STANLEY'S OBITUARY:Stanley R. Dombrouski, aged 94 of Irons, decorated veteran of World War II, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013. Stanley was born on August 8, 1918 in Irons to Stanley J. and Adele (Wigamiski) Dombrouski, and graduated from Luther High School with the class of 1937.He served his country during World War II with the United States Army in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre, engaging in numerous campaigns and earning several medals, commendations, and ribbons including the Purple Heart, Silver Star, and Four Bronze Stars. With the rank of Sergeant, Stanley served as Squadron Leader and was responsible for deployment of those under his command during battle. It was noted in an official Army dispatch, that he was highly respected by his men. Upon his discharge from service, he returned home to Irons where he worked as a dairy and beef farmer for many years. Stanley was a member of the Peacock VFW Post 5315 in Baldwin, and was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Irons. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters Ann Tennicott, Mary, Joseph, and Frank Dombrouski.Stanley will be greatly missed by his brothers Richard of Irons, and Robert of Free Soil, his sisters Theresa (Bill) Misze of Midland, Marcella (Paul) Klukowski of Grand Rapids, and Rose Marie (Walt) Lardner of Columbia, SC, his sister-in-law June Dombrouski of Irons, and his special friends Jackie and David McKellar of Irons, along with several nieces and nephews.A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Stanley at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 4 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Irons. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Irons with honors performed by the United States Army and the Lake County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may meet with his family for a time of visitation on Saturday, May 4 from 10:00 AM until time of Mass at the church.
