Timothy Dale Colyer

August 15, 1957 - February 24, 2010

Timothy D. Colyer, aged 52 of Scottville, joined his God Wednesday, February 24, 2010 after a brief bout with cancer. Tim was born on August 15, 1957 in Ludington to Ivan and Mary Ellen (Pendland) Colyer, and was a lifelong resident of Mason County. He graduated from Mason County Central High School with the class of 1975, and furthered his education at the Hobart School of Welding. Upon completing his training, Tim joined the Ironworkers Local 340, and worked as a respected and devoted union Ironworker for 30 years, retiring in 2007. He greatly enjoyed working the “red iron”, as well as the camaraderie shared with his fellow workers. In his retirement Tim enjoyed spending time hunting, target shooting from his collection of handguns, and working with his many animals on the farm. On August 9, 1997, he married the love of his life Judy (Briggs) at the home where they have shared and celebrated life together for over 24 years. Their family includes their children Dottie Howe and Rosie Howe of Grand Rapids, Robert Wabsis and Don Howe of Scottville, Katie Drake of Grant, and Jeff Colyer of Ludington; their grandchildren Alys, Tony, Kendra, Ashleigh, Cody, Justin, Collin, James, Aaron, and Jesse James; their great-granddaughter Olivia; Tim’s mother Mary Ellen Colyer of East Jordan; his brothers Daniel (Dawn) Colyer of Ludington, and Andy Colyer of East Jordan; and his sister Cookie (Doug) Soberalski of Scottville, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Tim was preceded in death by his father Ivan Colyer.
