Today I just learned of Wayne's passing. My dogs Pepper and Eli visited him a couple times a month. He loved dogs. He used to say how soft their ears were and share his windmill cookies with them. Hi loved to see how much he cared for his wife. Seeing them together was so sweet and a true inspiration. He will truly be missed. My prayers to his wife and the rest of his family.
I had the pleasure of taking care of Wayne at Oceana Medical Care. I can honestly say he was one of the brightest parts of my day every time I saw him. The love between him and Ms. Alice was one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed. I have many fond memories of Wayne that I will carry with me. The talks about fishing, the giggles we shared with Ms. Alice, and the gentleman that Wayne was. He was always so humble. I pray that the Saxtons and those close to Wayne find comfort during this difficult time. May Wayne fly high with the angels in Heaven. God bless you all.
Uncle Wayne was always one of my most favorite people. He was the only person in my life to call me 'Stephie.' Whenever I saw him he would always give me a great bit hug and his smile was infectious. He will be greatly missed.

I will always remember the carved fish he made; what a gifted craftsman. And his welcoming smile when I joined the family. And his concern for Jon L. when they were both at Oceana Medical. He and Alice were a pair, for sure! He will be missed. I am in Arizona with my Mom right now and hadn't been on the Daily News website for a week....sorry these thoughts are so late. The family is in my prayers.

So sorry for your loss. He sure was a very special man, always looking out for his love Alice. I enjoyed hearing his life story's and just being around him was fun. I shall think of him often and smile.
I am so sorry for your loss. Wayne was a sweet man and we had wonderful conversations. He was kind to my brother, and I still have the fish keychain he gave my brother.
He was a gentle sweet man and so good to Alice-she will really miss him..we will too. One of our special ones...

In the early 80’s we met Wayne at his resort on Hamlin Lake. We brought our kids there for the first time. There were many happy and fun memories.
Bob Linning here. When we visited his home in Tamarac he showed me all the craft things he had made and he generously gave me one of the paddles with “Jack’s Resort” painted on it. It hangs on the wall of my home office to this day. I also remember the hours he and his son spent trolling up and down the lake, just outside the weed beds, looking for the trophy fish, which he finally caught!
Sue Linning here. What I remember most is the time our older son was calling for me to get the net as he struggled with a large “Fish” which turned out to be one of Wayne’s giant lures! I still have two of the fish magnets on my fridge that he so kindly gave me. We met him on his bicycle several years after he’d sold the resort & he took us to his trailer in Tamarac to see his home & say hello to Alice. He will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
We’re sure the fishing’s great where he is now!
