Audrey Maude Wicklund's Obituary
Mrs. Audrey M. (Allison) Wicklund, aged 92, of Custer, died Friday, May 23, 2008 at Oakview Medical Care Facility. Audrey was born on January 14, 1916 in Custer to John and Nellie (Veeder) Allison and graduated from Scottville High School with the Class of 1934. She graduated from Mason County Normal School in 1936 and began teaching in rural schools throughout Mason County for the next 12 years. On June 14, 1941 she married Richard D. Wicklund in Scottville, and they have celebrated 67 years together. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor of sciences degree, and taught at Comstock, Walhalla, Menninger, and Amber Station, before retiring from teaching in 1978 after 23 years at the Ludington Area Schools’ Foster Elementary. She was a member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel. Audrey and her husband Richard have enjoyed spending winters in Indio, California since their retirement, where she led water exercises in the park where they lived. She always looked forward to bow and gun hunting, and fishing with Richard and her family. They have enjoyed many fishing trips together to Canada. Audrey also like to spend time knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She will be greatly missed by her family. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Richard, sons Barry (Judy) Wicklund of Palm Springs, California, and Dale (Janice) Wicklund of Custer; her grandchildren Brandyn (Christine), Brent, Jamie (Devin), Deena (Gary), Rich (Mary), and Kristina; her 7 great-grandchildren Devinney, Kendyll, Zander, Hannah, Ryan, Noah, and Abigail: and several nieces and nephews.
