Barbara L. Dodson's Obituary
Barbara Lynn “Barb” Dodson, age 87 of Scottville, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2026. Barb was born on September 27, 1938 in Freesoil, Michigan to Vance and Clara Rosenow. Barb attended Mason County Central Schools, and graduated with the class of 1956. After high school Barb attended West Shore Community College and obtained her Certification for her LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse.) Barb went on to work at Oakview Care Facility until she retired after 26 years.
Barb married her husband, Robert “Bob” Dodson, on November 9, 1974, and they shared 51 wonderful years together. She especially enjoyed riding on the back of Bob’s Harley Davidson motorcycle, including trips together to Sturgis and several visits to Daytona Beach, Florida, for Daytona Bike Week. Barb also loved gardening and looked forward each spring to planting her flower garden. Barb enjoyed listening to country music and dancing. In her free time, she enjoyed golf cart rides and collecting golf balls from the driving range on her and Bob’s property. Barb cherished spending time with her Mini-Dachshund, Freida, especially relaxing together in the pool. She also loved hosting pool parties for her friends.
Barbara will be greatly missed by her husband Robert; her children Peggy (Garth) Munson of Cadillac, Dan Schwass of Ludington, James (Janice) Schwass of Florida, and Samantha Dodson of Muskegon; her brothers Bill Rosenow (Marion) of Virginia Beach, and John (Jean) Rosenow of Florida; and her 9 grandchildren and all her great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Vance and Clara Rosenow, her sister Shirley Russell, her son Robert, and her beloved mini-Dachshund Freida.
A Graveside Ceremony will take place later this summer at Brookside Cemetery in Scottville.
