Barbara Jeanine Kalis' Obituary
Barbara Kalis, aged 72 of Branch, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Tendercare of Ludington. Barbara was born August 24, 1936 in Cicero, Illinois to Casey and Helen Winke. She married Frank Kalis and together they had three children, Daniel, Susan and Frank. They lived for over 30 years on Emerson Lake, but sadly, the marriage ended and Barbara moved to Long Lake. Barbara was an avid collector of antiques and loved to spend time gardening and shopping. She had as companions her two dogs, Moses & Max. Barbara loved being a grandmother and cherished her wonderful grandchildren.Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her son Frank and her sister Patsy. She will be remembered with love by her son Daniel Kalis and his wife Melinda of Custer and her daughter Susan Cheney and husband Brian of Illinois, as well as her beloved grandchildren Sonny, Ashlee, Francis and Christian Cheney and Danielle Kalis.Funeral services for Barbara will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 6 at Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville with Rev. Edward Bouchey officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Custer. Family and friends will meet for a time of visitation on Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
