Betty Marie Billings' Obituary
Betty Marie Billings age 96 of Ludington passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Betty was born on April 2, 1928 in Riverton Township, the daughter of James and Hazel (Bradley) Rhinebolt. On June 25, 1947 she married George Billings and they raised their four children together.
When West Shore Community College opened, Betty took advantage of the nursing education offered by the college, earning her Associates degree. She served as a nurse’s aide in the community for over 30 years, first at Memorial Medical Center before finding her niche as an assisted living caregiver and operating both the Whispering Pines and Wedgewood North Care Homes in Scottville. Independently, she provided care to many of her closest friends and family members until recently.
Betty was preceded in death by her son Gary Billings, her daughter Jan O’Brien, her sons-in-law Danny O’Brien and Richard “Dick” Carstens, her former husband George, grandson Shawn O’Brien, sisters Doris Taylor and Miriam O’Connell, and her brother Fred Rhinebolt.
Betty will be missed by her daughter Judy Carstens of Ludington; her grandchildren Shannon (Matt) Miller, Donald O’Brien, Jeremy (Angel) O’Brien, Joshua (Jenn) O’Brien, Amanda (Scott) Cole, Michelle (Eric) Soneral, Bradley Billings, Anya (Brian) Peterson, and Jake (Kim) Carstens; several great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many great friends made over a lifetime.
A ceremony to remember Betty will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 4th at South Victory Cemetery with a luncheon to follow.
