I may have met Betty Vanderlaan when her husband, Howard, was a Scottville Commissioner & worked at Gambles in Scottville. I do know that I interacted with her through the various places I received medical care; I recognized her & her outfit in her picture. I interacted with both of them for several years. To Howard and his family/friends I extend sincere condolences; and wish them only the best in their future lives.
I help take care of Howard at Ludington Woods, he is sitting here with me telling me what to write for her memory wall.
Betty was always one to help others, she was selfless, kind, loving. She and I served the Lord together for many years. My loss is the Lord’s gain and I know she is in a better place. Part of my heart went with her, I love her so much. Lord keep her safe until I see her again.

Please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of Betty. I worked with her for many years when she was a nurse with Memorial Medical Home Care. The compassion and empathy for her patients was unmatched. She was definitely a bright light in this world.

I was a nurse’s aide back in the 1970’s at Oakview Medical Care Facility Betty was the Director of Nursing. The patients back then received such good care because of Betty’s leadership, professionalism and kindness. She set a high standard for employees. I will always remember her so fondly.

I was a nurse's aide at Oakview (then Mason County Medical Care Facility) in the summers during my college years, 1969-1973. Betty, the Director of Nursing, was my instructor and supervisor. I was tremendously impressed by her professionalism, kindness, and gentle authority. In addition to her supervisory responsibilities, she was concerned with the welfare of the patients -- I remember her checking bedbound patients' skin to be sure they weren't in danger of getting bedsores. I have never forgotten her passion for nursing and her excellent leadership.

Praise God, Aunt Betty is Home with her Heavenly Father and so many loved ones. She and Uncle Howard have always been dear to me and were a special aunt and uncle to Ken.
