Bruce Everrett Durham's Obituary
OBITUARY:Bruce Everrett Durham, aged 49 of Scottville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 25, 2011 at his home. Bruce was born on March 7, 1962 at the Paulina Stearns Hospital in Ludington to Everrett “Bud” and Sandra (Porter) Durham and graduated from Mason County Central High School. On June 14, 1986, he married Elaine Phillips at the Custer Baptist Church, and they would have celebrated their 25th anniversary this year. Bruce worked many years for Nickelson’s Tree Farm in Ludington, and loved being outdoors, especially deer and bear hunting. With a great sense of humor and gift for gab, he could often be seen at WESCO in Scottville talking with friends over a cup of coffee. He was an active member of the Mason County Fin & Feather Club, and often instructed the Hunter Safety programs offered by the club. Bruce and Elaine became proud grandparents this past Christmas, and his granddaughter Faith was the “apple of his eye.” Along with his wife Elaine, Bruce will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Rachel Durham, and Sara (Ryan) Maccune, his beloved granddaughter Faith, his parents Bud and Sandra Durham, Elaine’s parents Ken and Margaret Frey, all of Scottville, his sisters Beth (Randy) Behan, also of Scottville, and Becky (Darrell) Hamelund of North Chicago, IL, his brother-in-law Ken (Mary) Frey of Walker, Elaine’s grandmothers Ruth Phillips of Hesperia, and Muriel Frey of Ludington, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held for Bruce at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 30th at the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Ludington, with his pastor, the Rev. Brian Blount officiating. Friends may meet with his family for a time of visitation on Saturday from 12:30 pm until time of services at the church. Those who wish to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider the care of Bruce’s family.
