Carl William Cheney's Obituary
Carl W. Cheney, age 86, of Ludington, passed away on Monday February 13, 2012 at Oakview Medical Care Facility in Ludington. Carl was born on August 30, 1925 in Ithaca, MI to Ruben and Sylvia Cheney. He graduated from Ithaca High School, and enlisted in the US Army in May of 1945.On April 16, 2005 Carl married Betty (Thurow) and they enjoyed nearly 7 years together. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, and first wife, Maxine, who passed away in 2001, two brothers, Glen and Ralph, and three sisters, Laura, Lois, and Eleanor. Carl worked most of his life as a farmer and owned his own farm before selling it in 1992 after developing cancer. Carl enjoyed hunting and being outdoors and building things for his stepchildren Michael and Sydney. His nieces and nephews also enjoyed spending time with him saying he was a fun guy to be around.Carl will be greatly missed by his wife, Betty, stepchildren Michael (Susan) Armstrong of Oakton, VA, and Sydney (Teryl) Studer of Millington, MI, along with three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.The Cheney family will hold a memorial service for Carl on Saturday February 18 at 11 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Scottville, with Pastor John Hansen officiating, with a time of visitation from 10 am until the time of service.
