Carol Sellon's Obituary
Mrs. Carol Louise Sellon, aged 80 of Branch, a former longtime resident of Coopersville, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the home of her daughter Lois, with whom she resided. Carol was born on January 25, 1929 in Muskegon County to Andrew and Edna (Hall) Brustad, and graduated from Grant High School. On November 12, 1947, she married Richard A. Sellon at her family homestead in Bailey, Michigan, and they celebrated 55 years together before Richard preceded her in death on March 3, 2003. Carol was also preceded in death by her daughter Carolyn McKay in May, 2008, and her sisters Helen Wright, Juanita Hall, and Ruth D’Amuro. Carol worked as a Postal Carrier for the United States Postal Service in Coopersville, retiring in 1993. She was a charter and life member of the Coopersville VFW Post 5598 Ladies Auxiliary, and formerly served as their president. She enjoyed working on crafts, crocheting, and playing the organ. Carol will be lovingly remembered by her children Lois (Douglas) Christian of Branch, Michael (Carol) Sellon of Ravenna, Eilene (Mark) Scholten of Sparta, and Kenneth (Karen) Sellon of Allendale; her son-in-law Richard McKay of Baldwin; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren with one additional great-grandchild expected in January; her sister Barbara (Eldin) Cole, and her brother Hurley (Phyllis) Brustad all of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
