Claude Stanley McCumber's Obituary
Claude “Sonny” McCumber, aged 67 of Custer, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center in Ludington. Claude was born on May 9, 1942 at the home of his aunt in Scottville to Claude and Frances (Budres) McCumber and graduated from Mason County Central High School where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America, and played basketball. On December 27, 1969, he married Diana Taylor at the Sugar Ridge Church of the Brethren, and they will have celebrated 40 years together this year. Sonny worked in maintenance for Great Lakes Casting in Ludington for over 42 years, retiring in 2005, but his passion was working his family farm in Eden Township all of his life. He also enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, and his father-in-law Claud Taylor. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Diana, his children Susan (Chris) Paskvan of Chicago, Trudy McCumber, and Scott McCumber both of Custer; his beloved grandchildren Kyle and Haley Paskvan; his brother Anthony McCumber of Lansing; his Mother-in-law Rosetta Taylor of Custer; his sister-in-law Kathy (Larry) Rees of Ludington; his brother-in-law Mark Taylor of Custer; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held for Claude at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 24 at the Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville, with Rev. Wayne Buskirk officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Eden Township. Friends may meet with his family for a time of visitation on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home. Those who wish, may make contributions to a charity of their choice in memory of Sonny.
