Clifford L. Elliott's Obituary
Clifford Leo Elliott age 79 of Ludington passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024. Cliff was born on August 28, 1945 in Grant, one of twelve children born to Gerald and Mae (Haddar) Elliott and graduated from Kent City High School with the class of 1963. He furthered his education at Ferris State University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1972 before completing his Master’s Degree in Counseling from Eastern Michigan University in 1974. Cliff began his career at Dexter Public Schools and counseled for the Michigan Department of Corrections. While visiting a friend in Mason County, who invited him to join him fishing on the Pere Marquette river, Cliff fell in love with the area and soon moved his family to Scottville where he continued his career as a counselor for Mason County Central Schools working in the middle school for the next 29 years until his retirement in 2000. Cliff also taught Social Studies and coached the high school track and cross country teams, helping them earn a State Title in Track in 1986. Cliff was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a longtime member of the Mason County Fin & Feather Club. One of his many passions was visiting flea markets and yard sales looking for the rare find and collecting antiques, a trait he learned from his parents.
Cliff will be greatly missed by his children Jeff (Cari) Elliott of Norton Shores, and Shelli (John) Coffin of Ludington; his grandsons Austin (Harper) Elliott of North Muskegon, and Dean Coffin of Ludington; his great-grandson Leo Elliott; his former wife Carol Elliott of North Muskegon; and two remaining sisters both in the Grand Rapids area. Cliff was preceded in death by his parents and 9 siblings.
A Gathering of Family and Friends to celebrate Cliff’s life will take place from 3:00 – 6:00 pm on Friday, October 11 at Wyman Funeral & Cremation Services in Scottville with a brief ceremony to begin at 5:30 pm.
