DONALD'S OBITUARY:Donald Andrew Shannon, aged 66 of Ludington, formerly of Harvey, Illinois passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Tendercare of Ludington. Donald was born on June 10, 1946 in Hammond, Indiana to Wilbur Dale and Kathleen (Bennett) Shannon, and grew up in the Chicago suburb of Dolton, Illinois. In 1966, he enlisted with the U.S. Army and served two tours of duty as a specialist in Vietnam.Don moved to Harvey upon his return from active duty in early 1970 and worked as a professional bartender for over 35 years at Summerset South in Dolton, Sheraton Inn in Homewood, and at Scott’s Prime Rib in East Hazel Crest. He retired in 2007 and moved to Ludington where his family had previously been summer residents of Upper Hamlin Lake. At that time, he tended bar for a brief time at Scotty's in Ludington.Don was preceded in death by his parents, and will be lovingly remembered by his brother Robert Shannon of Fountain, and his special friend Sheila of Ludington. His family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of Tendercare for their “tender care” of Donald during his brief stay.According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and graveside services will be held for Donald at Bachelor Cemetery in Fountain later in the spring.Condolences may be directed to Robert Shannon, P.O.
