Doris Jane Johnson's Obituary
OBITUARY:Doris Ford “Dorie” Johnson, aged 84 of Ludington, formerly of Scottville, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Ludington Woods Assisted Living Center. Doris was born on September 10, 1926 in Ludington to Neal and Eva (Anderson) Ford, and married Neal F. Johnson, DO in 1960. Neal and Doris enjoyed 41 years together before Neal preceded her in death in 2001. Dorie worked alongside "Doc" at his practice in Scottville before returning to college and earning her LPN degree in 1980, and her RN degree from West Shore Community College as part of the first graduating class of the RN program in 1982. She then worked several years as a surgical nurse for Memorial Medical Center in Ludington. Dorie was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ludington. As an artist she painted several paintings for her family and friends. She also enjoyed spending time working in her garden, and always found time to socialize with her many dear friends. In addition to her husband, Doris was preceded in death by her parents, and her son Allen. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Ronald K. Johnson and wife Ann of Ludington; her grandchildren Heather (Chuck) Green, Ken (Julie) Soloman all of Florida, and Timothy Johnson of Ludington; nine great-grandchildren; her brother Robert (Betty) Ford of Ludington; her nephew David (Karen) Ford; and her niece Joan (Rick) Baatz. The family would like to thank the staffs at TenderCare and Ludington Woods for their care and many kindnesses. A Memorial Service will be held for Doris at Noon on Thursday, December 16 at the Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville. Burial will take place at Brookside Cemetery in the spring. Friends may meet with her family for a time of visitation on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home. Those who wish to make contributions are asked to consider Hospice of Michigan – Mason County, or Lakeshore Animal Friends in Dorie’s memory.
