Dorothy (Arnouts) Hackert's Obituary
Dorothy Mae Hackert
May 11, 1936-April 11, 2018
A devoted servant of God met her heavenly savior last week. Dorothy Mae Hackert aged 81 passed away in Grand Rapids. She peacefully ‘went home’ without pain and was surrounded by family. Dorothy was a native to Riverton township in Mason County. She loved Jesus, Detroit Tiger baseball, and praying for the needs of others. It was her life’s calling to bring peace and reflect the love of Christ to all who came across her path. She was generous, kind, and always willing to make a meal for you. Her life was a living example of how faith brings miracles into reality.
Dorothy was last living member of the Arnouts family. Her parents, Henry and Florence Arounts, and siblings Don, Ray, Hank, and Laura preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Lorin Fred Hackert. Together they shared a life together in both Saginaw and Ludington. Dorothy lost two children, Duane Michael Hackert and Debra Kay Stone during her life. Dorothy will be remembered by her children Denise, and Dennis both of Ludington, and April of Champaign, IL as well as by her grandchildren Nathan of Oscoda, Mandy of Owosso, Misty of Grand Rapids, Derrick, and Brittany. She was blessed with a crown of five great-grandchildren Adrianna, Chad, Natalie, Emmanuel, and Gabe.
The legacy that has been offered through this woman’s life has helped many find a deeper peace in the uncertainty of life. Dorothy was a consistent woman of faith no matter the pain nor trial that came her way. She devoted her life to the service of others. As a pastor, her greatest ministry was intercessory prayer and spiritual warfare. She knew her authority in Christ and was not afraid to use it! As a means of relaxation and joy, she played baseball as a littler girl, watched ONLY tiger baseball as an adult, loved cooking, going to yard sales, and enjoying a butter pecan ice cream cone while sitting on a bench at the beach feeling the breeze on her face.
The family invites you to a celebration of Dorothy life on Friday, April 27, 2018 beginning at 10:00am – 12:00 noon at the Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville followed by services hosted by Pastor’s Jeffery Hackert and James Hall. Graveside services will be held at Center Riverton Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Riverton Town Hall.
There is a grief and loss here on earth due to the passing of this angel. Yet, it is now our great pleasure to walk out the example and lessons that were demonstrated by this woman’s life. Thank you for honoring Dorothy’s life in your own way. Any expression of love and appreciation for Dorothy’s impact on your life are graciously accepted by the family to assist in covering her medical and finances expenses. Please address any gifts to April Winslow (PO Box 2216, Champaign, IL 61825).
