Dorothy Tyndall's Obituary
OBITUARY:Dorothy Tyndall, aged 77 of Carr Settlement, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Tendercare of Ludington, following a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis. Dorothy was born on April 5, 1934 in Riverton Township to Morris and Viola (Wyant) Stickney, and graduated from Custer High School with the class of 1952. On June 21, 1958, she married Henry “Hank” Tyndall at the Scottville United Methodist Church, and they have celebrated 53 years together. Dorothy worked a short time as a Teacher’s Aide at Mason County Central Middle School. A very social person, she could often be found talking to friends, keeping up with local happenings, and took special joy in their Sunday family get-togethers. She was an excellent seamstress and cook, sewing, baking and canning as much as possible. Her greatest love was caring for her family and being in their presence. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Daniel, her brothers Charles, Donald, and Jack Stickney, her brother-in-law Virgil Tyndall, and her sister-in-law Jean Stickney. She will be greatly missed by her husband Hank; her children Laurie Gatton of Walkerville, Michael (Barbara) Tyndall of Carr Settlement, Jeanene (Scott) Briggs of Scottville, Renee (William) VanDyke of Carr Settlement, Amy (Mark) Hogan of Gaylord, and Scott (Becky) Tyndall of Custer; her beloved grandchildren Amy, Kevin Jr. (Krista), and Bambi, Michael (Katie), and Michelle (Tom), Andrew, Nathan, and Jennifer, Taylor and Jedediah, Joe, Brooke, Nathan, Nick, and Casey, Anna and Alex; her precious great-granchildren Adrian, Audrey, Anthony, Mason, and Eli; her brother Keith (Uvilla) Stickney of Custer; her sisters-in-law Estelle Stickney of Custer, Judy Stickney of Florida, Gloria (Leo) Uber of Carr Settlement, and Delores Tyndall of Fountain; her brothers-in-law Glen Tyndall, Robert (Barb) Tyndall, Mason (Mert) Tyndall, and Perry (Jean) Tyndall all of Carr Settlement; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held for Dorothy at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 30 at the Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville, with Rev. Norm Letsinger officiating. Friends may meet with her family for a time of visitation on Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home and on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service . Those who wish to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider the Carr Fire Department, or Hospice of Michigan - Mason County.
