Earl Arthur Conklin's Obituary
Earl Arthur Conklin was born Feb. 13, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio, to Earl Henry Conklin and Vera (Wolfe) Conklin.
Earl eloped with Jeanne (Anderson) Conklin to Richmond, Indiana on Jan. 24, 1948 and they spent nearly 69 years together.
They have four children together: Susan and Joe Goodrich of Antioch, Illinois, Jeff and Marilyn (Mosher) Conklin of Free Soil, Beki and Elliot Heffler of Winnetka, California and Leigh Conklin of Oak Harbor, Washington.
Earl grew up in Dayton, Ohio and later moved to the farm in New Carlisle, Ohio. He graduated from Bethel High School in 1946 and operated a dairy and livestock farm until 1953.
After farming, he was a partner in E and E Surveying Company. Later, they would add an engineer and rename it E and E Surveying and Engineering. He later worked for other consulting engineers as a draftsman and estimator.
Earl was a registered surveyor in Michigan and Ohio and a 32-degree Mason.
Earl and Jean moved to Michigan in 1975 and farmed for a time before going to work for the Mason County Drain Commission where he worked for 10 years.
Earl was a member of both the Mason County Zoning and zoning appeal boards for over 20 years.
He is survived by his wife and children as well as grandchildren Jason and Ben Squires, Joe Conklin, David, Matthew and Katie Heffler and Devon Clark and Olivia Kurr as well as 10 great-grandchildren.
No service is scheduled at this time but a celebration of life will be held this summer.
