Edith Mae Sams' Obituary
Edith Sams age 90 of Branch, passed away August 25, 2019 at her home surrounded by family. Edie was born April 29, 1929 in Battle Creek to David S. White and Mable Hellen Caswell White, and was their last surviving child.
Edie achieved a world record status for making the most guitar strings in an eight hour shift at GHS in Battle Creek. After moving north, Edie owned and operated Lazy Days Motel in Branch for over 40 years. She was a long term member of Bachelor Evangelical Covenant Church and served as a long time election board member of Sweetwater Township in Lake County. She enjoyed decorating wedding cakes, sewing, crocheting, working on puzzles, bird watching, gardening, telling stories and spending time with family
Edie married Howard "Sam" Sams in Battle Creek and is survived by her children Michael of Hastings and Brenda and Steven of Branch; her daughter-in-law Michael Sue Sams of Freesoil; her grandchildren Rodney, David, Melisa, Peter, Sarah, Kate, Emma, Steven, Jennie, Mike and Kim; several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Edie was preceded in death by her 2 sons Rodney Joe and John and 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lazy Days Motel, 11978 West US 10 Highway, Branch, MI on Saturday, September 14 from 1:00-4:00 PM.
