Fredrick George Englebrecht's Obituary
Rick's Obituary:Fredrick “Rick” Englebrecht, aged 61, of Pentwater, formerly of Scottville, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011. Rick was born on November 12, 1950 at the Paulina Stearns Hospital in Ludington to Theodore and Bessie (Smith) Englebrecht, and graduated from Mason County Central High School with the class of 1968. On October 21, 1974, he married Mary Sabol in Scottville and they celebrated 17 years together. Rick worked construction throughout the west shore area mostly in masonry and roofing, but his greatest passion was as a sportsman. He loved to fish and hunt, the deeper into the woods the better, and gave away most of his catch to friends in need. He possessed a remarkable “green thumb” and was known to have the best gardens around, often caring for multiple gardens at a time. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers-in-law Vernon Brown and the Rev. Frederick Jagow. He will be greatly missed by his former wife Mary Englebrecht Ring and their son Sean Englebrecht both of Scottville, his beloved granddaughters Brook and Taryn Englebrecht, his sisters Patricia Brown of Greenville, and Charlene Jagow of Warren, his brother Robert (Doris) Englebrecht of Paradise, his uncle Richard Smith of Scottville, 2 nieces, 6 nephews, and numerous great nieces, nephews, and cousins.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 4 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Scottville, with Rev. James Schroeder officiating. Burial will take place at Center Riverton Cemetery in the spring. Friends may meet with his family for a time of visitation on Tuesday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville, and on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church. Those who wish to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider Rick’s family to assist with expenses.
