Gary A. Young's Obituary
Gary Allen Young, born in Cadillac, Mi, went home on January 28. Gary previously resided in Grand Rapids and retired in Northern Michigan. Gary served in the United States Army in conjunction with his career from Amway Corporation after 42 years of service, retired in Wellston, Mi. He was an avid Sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing-all aspects so much that as a younger man he was nicknamed "Mort" after legend Mort Neff of Michigan Outdoors. He could hardly wait to get "up north" on Friday night to hit the tree stand or the trout stream! All else could wait! Later in life Gary discovered casinos. Again, he could hardly wait to meet up with his 10x slot machine at LRC. From mushroom picking, cutting wood, chasing the perfect auction or garage sale, the chase was the enjoyment. No longer needing to be the legendary hunter, Gary enjoyed feeding and watching the fawns, fox, turkeys, and bear and appreciating that beauty. Gary enjoyed a good joke and sharing his "old" jokes with younger people. He never once became angry or lost his sense of humor or kindness through his health battles-which is one great attribute to him as a wonderful person! Gary is survived by his wife Chris Young (Adams); "Rosie" his Service Dog; Brother Robert C. Young; Sister & Brother-in-law Marianne and Kit Morlan; Sister-in-law Cynthia K Bright; Mother-in-law Mary Ann Adams and many nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by his parents; Raymond L. Young & Ardella June Young (Wieten); Sister Peryl Lynn Wilcox; Father-in-law David LeRoy Adams; Brother-in-law John Bright. Having comfort in knowing that he made it to Rainbow Bridge to re-unite with the "kids;" "Sham," "Magnum", "Maggie May" and "Rugar Dugar" now his journey can be completed! God Speed, we will see each other again. Cremation will take place and in celebration of Gary's life: Be kind. Be caring. Be patient.
