George Thomas Maddix's Obituary
OBITUARY:George Thomas Maddix, aged 72 of Ludington, passed away on Friday, March 05, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Tom was born on October 27, 1937 in Muskegon, the son of the late George and Frieda (Kuiper) Maddix, and graduated from Scottville High School with the class of 1956. On June 23, 1979, he married Linda (Pehr) Barber in Manistee, and they have celebrated 30 years together. Tom is a retiree of Harbison-Walker, where he worked as a welder for 28 years. He served his country as a member of the Army Reserves, and was a member of the Scottville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Frieda and Ernest Johnson; his father George Maddix; and his father-in-law Robert Pehr. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Linda; his son Wesley (Beth) Maddix of Ludington; his daughter Debbie (Dwayne) Salmon of Dorr; his stepsons Scott (Marleigha) Barber of Ludington, and Michael Barber of Benzonia; his grandchildren Ashley Maddix of Ludington, Tyler and Cody Salmon of Dorr; his step-grandchildren Cody Barber of Spring Lake, Michael Strouse, Korrie (Joel) Hutchinson, and Ian Strouse all of Ludington; and five step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Jean Pehr of Ludington; his sister Joanne (Bill) Kelley of Ludington; his brother Bud (Mona) Johnson of Scottville; and his brother-in-law Bob (Nancy) Pehr of New Mexico.
