I welcome the opportunity to honor Goldie, this wonderful woman. My sister Goldie was always close, and I have so many memories of the things we shared. From birth she was always there for me. Being one of the four older siblings and my being number 8 she loved me and shared in my care. Turning five, I made my way up the hill to Jim and Goldie’s new home when they were first married just to spend time with her. When I was 12 I lived with Goldie and Jim while they worked and I helped take care of the two boys after school, and became part of the family for a time. I’ll never forget how she honored me and bought me this beautiful blue taffeta dress for 8th grade graduation and made me feel so special. Goldie always remembered the little things with unique gifts and thoughtful wishes on every birthday and holiday. Full of life and energy she was a strong and active woman all her life. These past years we grew close as we shared family memories, discussed life issues and just spent time together. She was a friend, sister, confident and really like a mom to me in so many ways. I loved her dearly and often joked that she was my sissy mom. I will greatly miss her and look forward to the day when I will join her in heaven.
