My dear mother-in-law was more a mother to me than most would've been. She was instrumental in my becoming the strong Christ-centered woman I am today. I learned so much from her. She and I butted heads a few times, but I believe she was just testing me to make sure I would carry on after she went to her Heavenly Home. You can rest easy, MomH . In Christ's strength, we got this!
Oh, our dear Aunt Gwen, What an amazing long life she had. We have been blessed. I have a treasured collection of all the birthday and Christmas cards that she sent over the years, with her beautiful handwriting - even as she aged. Her love was a gift to us all - as well as all the work that she and Karen put into The Tobey Tales geneology book. (I pull it out often.) Love to you all at this time, Her niece, Rosemary Willsie Beyersdorf
Sorry to hear she has passed. As one of her grand nieces (I guess), we enjoyed occasionally send cards back and forth (after my mom, her niece passed away in 2017), we enjoyed sharing recipes and such. Great - Aunt Gwen and my mom (Kathy) sure enjoyed those Tobey reunions too. Kathy and Aunt Gwen used to pen notes periodically. So sorry we missed the graveside services, as we just found out about Aunt Gwen's passing. She will be greatly missed here on this side of earth, but such a joy, being welcomed into Heaven with so many of her extended family at her side.

It was an honor being asked to be a pallbearer for aunt Gwen. Even though I was the only member of the Stevens family able to attend, Kyle, Lindsey and Mary all send their condolences. As a family, we all have very special memories of spending time with aunt Gwen when we visited while on our summer vacations. One special memory was when Kyle was about 6 and Lindsey about 10 years old. As many of you know, aunt Gwen loved to go for walks. On this particular day, aunt Gwen and all of us went for a walk through town to the railroad tracks. As we all walked the tracks looking for railroad spikes, Kyle and aunt Gwen took off running down the tracks! I was a nervous wreck hoping aunt Gwen wouldn't fall and break a hip or something, and I would be held responsible because my son Kyle challenged aunt Gwen to a foot race! Well, when Lindsey, Mary and I finally caught up with them, I started to scold Kyle about challenging aunt Gwen to a foot race at her age. Kyle then explained, HE didn't challenge her, SHE challenged him!
Aunt Gwen, you will be missed.
Gwen for our family was always grandma Holcombe she was a very nice lady who was caring and taught my daughter how to nit and do quilting when she was a small child. Gwen amazed me how she would shovel her driveway what a strong woman she was. She will forever be missed. Truly a heartfelt sympathy to the family. Love The Hagadorn Family.
