Hazel Marie Sniegowski's Obituary
HAZEL'S OBITUARY:Mrs. Hazel M. Sniegowski, aged 87 of Custer, passed away on September 8, 2010 at her home. Hazel was born October 3, 1922 in Custer Township to Ray & Janie (Kreigh) Nash. She graduated from Custer High School and continued on to County Normal, then received her Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University. She began her teaching career, teaching 4th graders, and she continued on in that grade until her retirement from Mason County Eastern Schools. On July 1, 1952 Hazel was wed to Roger Sniegowski and they celebrated 58 years together. Hazel loved to travel and went throughout the United States, especially in the south west. She truly enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours snowmobiling, hiking, camping and snagging fish. Her joyful, adventurous spirit and thirst for knowledge were always generously shared with those around her, including those of her church family at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Custer where she was a member.Preceding Hazel in death were her parents, her first husband Albert Monton, Jr., her son Michael, her sister Pat Andrulis, Irene Keffer, Erta Ray, Florence Ray, Betty Culver and her brothers Victor, Richard & Gale Nash.She is survived by her husband, Roger; daughter Linda (Boyd) Stark of Scottville, son Alan (Judy) Sniegowski of Torrence, CA; her five grandchildren: Roxanne (Ken) Thrailkill, Brian (Cindy) Stark, Jessica (JT) Schlotter, Jodie Sniegowski and Eric Dombrouski; her great grandchildren: Tiffany LeClair, Brittany & Trevor Thrailkill, Jordan, Nolan & Savanna Stark, Aydyn Dombrouski and Grace Schlotter; and her great granddaughter Ava LeClair. She is also survived by her sister Shirley Westover and brothers Ray, Jr., Bob and Wayne Nash.The Mass of Christian Burial for Hazel will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Custer with Rev. Mike Cilibraise as celebrant. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Custer.
