James J. Roberts' Obituary
James Joseph Roberts aged 91 of Free Soil, MI formerly of Lyndhurst, NJ passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 14, 2017. James was born on May 15, 1926 in Clifton, New Jersey, the son of William Harold and Alice Roberts. On April 26, 1947 he married Bertha E. Murphy and she preceded him in death on November 2, 1993.
James operated J.J. Roberts Asphalt Paving in Lyndhurst for over 30 years. He was a great bowler and an ever faithful Chicago Cubs fan being rewarded last year with their championship.
Along with his wife Bertha, James was preceded in death by his daughter Janice Belville on October 30, 1996. He will be greatly missed by his children Jimmy Roberts and wife Cindy of Florida, George Roberts of New Jersey, and Elizabeth Roberts and husband Robert Eastman of Michigan; his daughter-in-law Katherine Roberts; his grandchildren Lisa and daughter Courtney; Jimmy and his children Jimmy, Jillian, and Juniper; Jason and his children Christian and Chloe; Troy and his children Troy Jr. and Violet; Jennifer and her sons Nicholas, Tristan, and Mathew; Tommy; Bonnie and her daughters Kayla and Amanda; Eric; Katie and sons Daniel and David; Georgie; Mikie; Joey; and Emily and daughter Lilly.
A Celebration of James life will be held on Thursday, September 21 at the Nazare Memorial Home in Lyndhurst with visitation from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 PM and a Memorial Service at 8:30 PM.
