I only had a brief “chance” encounter last summer with John when we talked while in line to check out at a local store. I noticed his hat (the same one as in this picture) and thanked him for his service. I then gave him a coupon I had for a saw he was buying. His response...”whoop de do, you made my day” I have thought about him from time to time and how “alive” he seemed at 99 and what a pleasant person he seemed to be. My condolences for your loss.
