Joseph Mickevich's Obituary
Mr. Joseph Mickevich, aged 90 of Fountain, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center of West Michigan. Joseph was born on September 15, 1917 in Connecticut to Florenz and Eva (Manciones) Mickevich, and married Josephine Genson on August 22, 1940 in Traverse City. They have celebrated 67 years together. Joseph operated the Mickevich Garage and Service Station in Fountain with his brother Felix for 37 years, retiring in 1972. The garage was built and started by their father Florenz. Joseph also operated a farm on North Reek road for many years, retiring from farming in the mid-1980’s. He enjoyed hunting and fishing around Mason County with his family, and have spent the winter months in Port Richey, Florida for the past 40 years. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Felix, and his sisters Alice Roach and Ann Martin. He will be greatly missed by his wife Josephine, his sons Joseph (Carol) Mickevich and James F. (Beverly) Mickevich all of Fountain, his daughter Jane (Chris) Mehuron of Newport Richey, Florida; his grandchildren Lori (Charlie) Cregg, Joe (Jennifer) Mickevich, James (Denise) Mickevich Jr., and Mark (Kimberly) Mickevich all of Fountain, Angela (Scott) Halburg of Scottville, Chad (Mandy) Mehuron, Allan (Justine) Mehuron, and Ryan Mehuron (Fiancée Sarah Aahlin) all of Florida; 13 great-grandchildren; his sister Mary Mikolusky of Port Richey, Florida, his sister-in-law Eunice Mickevich of Scottville, and many nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held for Joseph on Sunday at the Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville. Burial will take place at Fountain Cemetery. There will be no funeral home visitation. Those who wish may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Joseph.
