Kathleen M McCarthy's Obituary
Kathleen Mary “Kay” McCarthy, aged 62 of Ludington, died peacefully at her home on Monday, November 19, 2007. Kay was born on March 26, 1945 in Vallejo, California to Michael and Isabelle (Rompf) Burns, and earned her degree as Licensed Practical Nurse. Kay served for over 35 years as a nurse and caregiver. Her compassionate manner was surpassed only by her love for others. In her last days, she was cared for in the same manner by her husband Daniel, her daughter Kara, her son Martin Joseph and his friend Michelle. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Michigan ~ Mason County for their caring and support which gave us strength. Kay also had a strong love for animals, and her beloved dogs never left her side. She will be greatly missed by her husband Daniel, her daughter Kara (David) Smedley of Scottville, her son Michael Joseph Miller IV and his friend Michelle Zweigle of Ludington, her grandchildren Summer, Sydney, and Stevie Parcell, Joseph and Janice Calderon, and Brandon and Meagan Smedley, her brothers Eddie (Josie) Burns, Gregory Burns, and Michael (Teresa) Burns Jr., her sister Leigh (Roy) Smith, and her sister-in-law Lori Burns. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Kay at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 23 at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Scottville, with Rev. Godfrey Onyekwere as celebrant. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan ~ Mason County in her memory.
