Kathlene Freda MacDougall's Obituary
Kathlene F. MacDougall age 74 of Branch passed away suddenly following a short illness on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Kathlene was born on May 10, 1950 in Reed City, the daughter of Earl and Tressia (Peterson) Johnson and graduated from Mason County Eastern High School with the class of 1968. On June 6, 1970 she married Stuart G. MacDougall at Evergreen Covenant Church and they celebrated 49 blessed years together before Stuart preceded her in death on November 21, 2019. Kathlene was also preceded in death by her beloved grandson Henry MacDougall, her brother-in-law Jerry Chancellor; and her nephew Chris Zwiegle.
After raising her three sons, Kathlene worked for several years at Wal-Mart in Ludington. She always regarded her time spent being a “stay at home Mom” her greatest and most rewarding occupation. A devoted Grandma, Kathlene rarely missed any of the grandkids events and loved being in the presence of her family. In her quiet time, she enjoyed working Word Search puzzles and reading a good book. As faith was a foundation of their household, Kathlene and Stuart were longtime members of Evergreen Covenant Church.
Kathlene will be greatly missed by her sons Gordon MacDougall and his wife Rebecca of Ludington, Shawn MacDougall and his wife Angie, and Scott MacDougall and friend Jenni Buter all of Branch; her grandchildren Austin MacDougall, Makenzie (C.J.) Smith and their daughters Emileigh and Paisley, Emma MacDougall, Reece Curtice, Ray Maycock, Graham MacDougall, and Hudson MacDougall; her brother and sisters Richard Johnson of California, Shirley Chancellor of Fountain, Betty (Bill) Zwiegle of Branch, Teresa Gustafson of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Pat (Mike) Kuncaitis-Neuman also of Branch; one niece and two nephews, and numerous great friends and neighbors.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 6:00 – 9:00 pm on Monday, September 23 at Wyman Funeral & Cremation Services in Scottville. Those who wish to remember Kathlene with a memorial donation are asked to please consider The Comfort Home in Reed City where she received great care in these last days, or to the Evergreen Covenant Church in Branch.
