Kenneth Lee Thurston's Obituary
OBITUARY:Kenneth Lee Thurston age 75, of Scottville passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at home. Ken was born on July 11, 1935 in Chicago , Il to the late Anthony and Mildred (Holz) Thurston. Ken graduated from Scottville High School in 1953, attended Western Michigan University, and was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1959. He married Shirley Ann (Boroff) Thurston on July 29, 1961 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Scottville, Michigan. He was the Assistant Manager for the Ludington State Park and retired as Manager for the Charles Mears State Park in 1992. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Ken is survived by his wife of 49 years Shirley A. Thurston of Scottville, 1 Son Russell L. (Cassie) Thurston of Arkansas, 1 Daughter Debbie A. Thurston and Rhonda J. Roberts of Wayland, 1 Grandson Anthony Gibbs of Arkansas, 1 Sister Shirley Spargos of Florida, and s everal nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death in addition to his parents by 1 Sister Annette Griswold, 2 Brothers Jerry and James Thurston. A Memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 1:00pm at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Scottville with Rev. James Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in Grant Township Cemetery . The family will be at Our Savior Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 12:00pm until time of service to greet friends. Memorials may be directed to the: Diabetes Association or Our Savior Lutheran Church.
