Thank you.OBITUARY:Leo James Uber, Sr., 75, of Zapata, TX, and Branch, MI passed away in Laredo, TX on April 18, 2012. Leo was born January 1, 1937 in Muskegon to Alfred & Mary Jane (Smith) Uber. He became a journeyman electrician and married Norma VanderStelt, and together they raised five children. Leo proudly dedicated over 40 years to his profession and was a retired member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 275. He was a great outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and fishing, as well as woodworking. He enjoyed assisting the nuns at the Sacred Heart School and Convent, and helped out friends and family whenever he could. He loved spending time with his family, taking them salmon fishing on the river, on car rides to look for deer, swimming, camping, gardening and building. He impressed his family with his swimming skills by once swimming the width of Lost Lake and then back again.Leo moved to Custer in the mid-1970’s and worked on the Ludington Pumped Storage Project, a job that his family looks upon with pride, knowing his part in that project, as well as traveling to many different states in his job in the electrical trades. He married his second wife, Gloria Tyndall in 1981 and enjoyed the time spent between their homes in Texas and Michigan.Family was very important to Leo and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Friends and neighbors knew Leo would be the first to arrive when help was needed.Leo was preceded in death by his mother Mary and stepfather Ted, his brother Bill, sister Dolly and son-in-law Luke. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Gloria; his daughter Norma Uber of Ludington; daughter Julie Bowen and Ray Bowen, Sr. of Holland, grandson Ray Bowen, Jr. and Jason (Jillisa) Bowen and great grandson Trey Bowen; daughter Nancy Morton of Custer, granddaughter Nicholle Morton, grandson Jacob Morton and great grandson Jacob Morton, Jr.; son Leo (Susan) Uber, Jr. of Custer, and grandson Leo Uber III; and daughter Lannet (Kenner) McKie of Ludington. He will also be missed by his brother Ron and sisters Mary, Evelyn and Brenda, along with many nieces and nephews.
