Lyle Finley's Obituary
Lyle F. Finley, aged 87 of Brookville, Florida, formerly of Custer, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at his home. Lyle was born on July 3, 1921 in Scottville to Frederick and Orpha (Price) Finley. On June 1, 1963, he married Jacqueline (Ferrell) Wilke, and they have celebrated 45 years together. Lyle worked for DuPont in Whitehall for 15 years before transferring to their plant in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he retired in 1983. Upon his retirement, he and Jacqueline moved to their current home in Brookville. Lyle was a veteran of World War II, where he served with the Army in the European Theatre. He was a Life Member of the Custer Gold Bar VFW Post 5096, and formerly served as Post Commander. In his retirement, Lyle enjoyed reading, especially western novels. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jacqueline, his children Terry (Bertha) Finley, and Robert (Jean) Finley both of Wilmington, NC, Allison (Melanie) Finley of Cypress, Texas, Arletta (Edward) Morgan of Burgaw, NC, Bruce (Mae) Wilke of Raleigh, NC, and Donald Finley; 11 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; and his sister Jane (Willis) Huss of Muskegon.
