Elizabeth Poel
To Dean and all members of Marilyn's family: My sincere sympathies to all of you in your loss of dear Marilyn. It is my loss, too. Not being able to reach her by phone since December, I resorted to the computer to resolve both my curiousity and my fears. I am so sorry for all of us!
Marilyn and I first met during a summer in high school (she from Tustin, I from Mesick school), when we both worked at Kelly's restaurant in Cadillac. We also rented a room together one summer while working there, after our first year at Michigan State. Marilyn happily quit college after that year to marry Dean, and I sang at their wedding in October 1951. We lost touch for a time after I married but re-connected about 25 years ago by letter and phone. I visited them in Ludington several years ago, finding them as before--friendly, loving, happy, steady, salt-of-the-earth, filled with common sense and the love of God, and so accomplished in many ways. She was such a beautiful person and I will never forget her.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and may Perpetual Light shine upon Marilyn! May her soul rest in peace.
