Mary Jane "Bonnie" (Heard) Ely's Obituary
Mary Jane “Bonnie” HEARD- ELY formerly of Irons, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2015 in Arizona at age of 89. Bonnie was widowed at a young age by her first husband & father to her children Arthur Fredrick Heard, and was also preceded in death by her husband Francis D. Ely (Fritz) and 4 of her siblings.
Bonnie will be greatly missed by her sons, Kim (Nancy) & Kurt (Kathleen) Heard, her grandchildren Carrie (Richard) Elley, Matthew (Katie), and Joshua (Angela)Heard, her step-grandchildren DL (Morgan), Nicole (Nicholas), 9 great grandchildren, her brother Jack (Barbara) and her sister Barbara.
Bonnie and Art moved to Irons from Hadley MI in 1972 when they purchased the K&K Party store. She was well known in the community for her sassy nature, her volunteerism and her bowling scores. Bonnie was also an active Member of the Lutheran Church.
Bonnie moved to Arizona to seek specialized medical attention for a rare form of Lupus. With the help of her doctors, she was able to lead a happy and healthy life until the fall of 2014 when she fell ill with kidney failure. She loved to watch and play with the great-grandchildren, and was able to spend many good times with her family. She also enjoyed watching her Heard grandsons via photo’s and nice letters from Matt & Katie. Bonnie spoke fondly of Josh & Angela Heard, and she loved them all dearly.
Graveside services will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Elk Township at 1:00PM on June 12 with Pastor Robert Low officiating. A lunch for family and friends will follow at the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 16486 Steinberg Rd, Wellston, MI 49689.
