Sherri Bruder
Aunt Nan was 10 years older than me and as a little girl, I admired my teen age Aunt. She had pretty clothes and was just so cool in her saddle shoes and Bobby Sox. She wasn’t too old to participate in the fun times with cousins at Grandma’s house like Thanksgiving family dinners and Easter egg hunts in Grandma’s big yard. When I was old enough, she gave me my first babysitting job. When I got there, the kids were already sleeping so I didn’t have to do much.
What made her a true hero to me was watching her giving a home to so many foster children over the years and adopting and giving a family to many of those children.
The best memory I have is how she loved me with with warm hugs and affection. She is my last Aunt to pass away and I’m so glad that someday I will see her again.
