Nancy L. Miller's Obituary
Nancy Lee Miller, age 94, died peacefully on June 16th 2024. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother – great thru great-great. Nancy Miller strived to help others and was always there to assist whether help was needed or not.
She was born on July 19th, 1929 in Detroit Michigan to Ed and Helen Brown. One of the memories that she loved was to frequent a glass making factory and collect scrapes of glass. She had a special place in her heart for blown glass throughout her life.
Nancy graduated from Lincoln Park high school and worked at Cunningham’s drug store as a fountain girl during that time. After a short marriage Nancy began working at General Motors in order to support and raise her two daughters.
In 1955 she married the love of her life, Peter G. Miller. Together along with creating 2 sons they had many entrepreneur adventures starting with selling real estate in the Lincoln Park area. In 1966 Pete and Nancy bought Shore Lanes Bowling Alley in Lexington Heights. In 1979, they sold the bowling center and bought Long Lake Resort in Walhalla Michigan. There are so many memories that were made for family, friends and customers alike during their time there. They sold the resort and continued to live in their large, love filled home until Peter’s death in 2004. Nancy then moved to Zephyrhills Florida where she continued to enjoy reading, painting and fixing up her place.
Nancy will always be remembered for her faith, generous nature and willingness to get her hands dirty on any kind of home improvement project. In addition we will never forget the awesome breakfast meals she could whip up for a crowd.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter G. Miller, her sister Sharol Laws and her parents Ed and Helen Brown.
Nancy is survived by her children Kathy White, Kris Olechowski, Cherl Miller Laux (Timothy), Peter Miller (Joan) and Nick Miller and a combined 13 grandchildren and too many great, great grandchildren to count. She is also survived by her sisters Lila Outland (Dan), and Margaret Bramhill.
A Ceremony to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held on Saturday, August 3 at 11:00 am at Wyman Funeral & Cremation Services. Burial will take place at Bachelor Cemetery. Friends may meet with her family on Saturday from 10:00 am until time of services at the funeral home.
