Norma J. Howe's Obituary
Mrs. Norma J. Howe, aged 76 of Ferndale, formerly of Scottville, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Norma was born on January 1, 1931 in Memphis, Tennessee to William Henry and Zella Marie ( Hurst) Word, and married Ronald N. Howe on November 12, 1948 in Detroit. Ronald preceded her in death on October 5, 1985. Norma worked 22 years as a Librarian at the Mason County Public Library in Scottville, and had previously worked for Michigan Bell Telephone. She and Ronald built their home together on the corner of Sugar Grove and Tuttle Road, where she enjoyed tending to her beautiful garden. Norma also enjoyed shopping of any kind with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by her sister Mildred J. Holcomb of Ferndale, her brother-in-law Leonard Howe of Manistee, her nieces Ava (David) LaLiberte of Carmel, Indiana, and Ellen (Raymond) Carrier of Warren, and many other nieces and nephews throughout the area. Funeral services will be held for Norma at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 29 at the Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville, with Rev. Timothy Yankee of Calvary Baptist Church in Ludington officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery. Friends may meet with her family for a time of visitation on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Mason County Public Library in Norma’s memory.
