I got to spend a lot of time with Auntie during this last journey in her life. My son was her birthday twin and we had a chili dog birthday party this year. We had numerous trips to Walmart and Sam’s Club. We watched multiple hours of the food and game show channels, and I brought unsweetened tea from Panera Sip Club every night I worked. But one of my favorite memories is when we went out to pick up fish dinners from the Lithuanian Club. We get home and she gets out before me, because she can never wait for help. I get out, carrying the two fish dinners and I hear, “Ummmm, I’m gonna need some help.” And it’s dark now. I ask, “where are you?” And she responds, “down here.” She had fallen in the snow bank. Now, if you know how tall she is, imagine this, she puts her arm around me and I stand up, as tall as I can, and she’s still on her knees. Now we are laughing. So I pop the trunk open on my little Trax, and she scoots to the back of my car on her knees. Now we’re laughing so hard, I think we’re both crying. When she gets to my car, I shove her up in the trunk, like something you would see in the movies, and then I am finally able to pull her up to her feet. Now we’re laughing so hysterically, trying to get to the house and not slip again. In the midst of this, when I had asked what she was doing down there, she said “making a snow angel”. I will always cherish our “snow angel” memory and I will miss you every day. I love you Aunt Pam. Thank you for loving me and my family, unconditionally. You will always be my Snow Angel.
